South Cotswolds Foodbank are proud to be partnering with Citizens Advice (Stroud & South Cotswold Districts) at this year’s Cirencester Half Marathon on Sunday 1st November.

Together, we’re encouraging anyone who has already signed up or is thinking of running in this year’s event to Run for Resilience and fundraise for both local charities so that we can continue our vital work helping local people in their hardest moments.

Stories like David’s illustrate how both local support services work together to transform lives:

When David (not his real name) stepped into his local foodbank, he and his disabled wife had been left without enough money for essentials due to an issue that delayed their benefits claim. “I walked into the foodbank desperately worried and not knowing what to do next,” he later wrote.

Thanks to the support of a Citizens Advice adviser based at the foodbank, David received expert advice alongside an emergency food parcel. “It was like being enveloped in reassurance and compassion… we felt hopeful and positive about the future again,” he said.

Stories like David’s are common. Most people who use a foodbank never expected to. A sudden illness, caring responsibilities, redundancy or a relationship breakdown - and rising living costs - can quickly turn life upside down.

When you choose to Run for Resilience, you’ll receive a bespoke running vest, support with setting up your fundraising page, signposting to local training and of course a huge cheer from staff and volunteers from both Citizens Advice and the Foodbank on the big day itself! Registration is currently £45 and the suggested fundraising target is £200.
